JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a leading tier 1 Irish Civils & Building Contractor with
projects throughout Ireland. 

As a construction materials buyer you will be joining a well
established team responsible for the procurement of materials and
services for construction projects throughout Ireland.

Reporting to the Procurement Manager you will be responsible for the
procurement of materials/services for construction projects, fixed
offices & all associated activites ensuring compliance with Health,
Safety, Environmental & CSR requirements.  

You will maintain an ethical and consistent approach to procurement in
line with Quality and Commercial Procedures and work closely with all
other departments-Estimating, Finance, Health & Safety and IT. 

Maintain an ethical and consistent approach to procurement in line
with Quality and Commercial Procedures.

Managing & updating the Supplier Database.

Scheduling & prioritising requisitions.

Sending out enquiries to suitable suppliers.

Collating & assessing quotations received ensuring compliance with
specifications.

Negotiating pricing, payment terms & conditions in line with budgets.

Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental & CSR
requirements.

Liaising with site management teams to reach collective decisions
where necessary.

Produce and issue Material Purchase Orders.

Solving problems (Late deliveries,shortages, quality issues etc.)

Sourcing new suppliers & products worldwide.

Offering site staff alternative materials as appropriate.

Visit supplier facilities and conduct vendor appraisals

Managing supplier relationships

Assisting Q.S’s with Subcontract procurement as and when required

Raising Subcontract Orders

Working closely with all other Departments (Estimating,
Finance/Accounts, HSE, IT etc. )

REQUIREMENTS

3rd Level qualification in Procurement / Supply Chain Management (
e.g. IIPMM or CIPS) or equivalent desirable.

Solid knowledge and understanding of purchasing processes and ERP
systems. (experience in COINS would be an advantage)

3+years previous experience as Procurement officer or related position
in the Construction Industry. – Experience on large Civil
Engineering projects would be an advantage.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word,
PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong organizational skills & the ability to multitask , work to
deadlines & work under pressure.

Accurate and precise attention to detail.

Able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Excellent negotiation skills.
